His holiness Somdej Phra Sangkarat (Somdej Phra Yanasangwon Nyanasamvara Phra Somdej Sangkarat) was the 19th Supreme patriarch of Thailand. The Supreme patriarch is the head of the Sangha and with it of all monks, nuns, temples and believer of Thailand. His position corresponds approximately to that of a pope. Particularly amulets and statues which were published on the occasion of a birthday of his holiness are in Thailand very much popular collector's objects which rise steadily in the price, because they were made only in small series. His holiness Somdej Phra Sangkarat (สมเด็จพระญาณสังวร สมเด็จพระสังฆราช), passed away on Thursday the 10/24/2013, at 19:30 o'clock local time at the age of 100 years and 21 days, after 80 Phansa as a Monk, in the King Chulalogkorn Memorial Hospital (โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์), Bangkok.
